  1. Is that the same dolphin guy I read about a while back who conducted a long term experiment involving a dolphin, a water-tank-appartment and a half naked woman tossed in some LSD and then wait and see what happens, leading to some rather amazing inter-species behaviour? It strikes me how this guy seems very out-of-time. Like someone living in the future with access to all kinds of scientific research, then beam back 100 years and make a fortune and play with some dolphins. Sort of makes sense to me.

Yup, the same guy ;) And yeah, Lilly included, some people from the ~recent times of our history indeed seem have been decades, centuries.. some maybe even longer... ahead of their times. They arent too well known amongst the "mainstream" scholars, since usually these people contribute much of their discoveries to have come from sessions with psychedelic "drugs". Or to channelings from other beings.. dimensions.. entities... and viewing the future and/or the past... amongst all other kinds of ~wacky things.

I'd recommend people looking into Lilly's work if one just has the time ;) He prettymuch invented the ECG and sensory deprivation tank during his LSD trips with them dolphins :P

  2. Yeah, all of the mentioned people are very interesting individuals with well thought ideas :) I agree that Ron Paul is not as "libertarian" as the others, but still is wise and somewhat respectable person.. his views just seem to base ~too much on the "American Dream" / "American Way" of thinking. While the politics in USA is prettymuch theatre, I give the man props for speaking out against the military industrial powers and the federal reserve  :)

And thanks! Havent actually read too much about the Parecon, will do that soon ;)

Hmm, I wonder if you have heard about the Ubuntu Liberation Movement? I came across them just some days ago by accident so havent done too deep of digging around, but from what I have read so far, their ideas and actions look just brilliant! You can read more from here: http://www.ubuntuparty.org.za/p/home.html

  3. Perhaps it's just me, but that looks an awful lot like Republican senator Ron Paul after a few too many bloodymerries. Like his reasoning though, although it sounds rather paranoid  :)

For some reason, John Lilly popped into mi mind from reading yer comment.. went on to find a pic of him and landed on this page: http://mindprod.com/animalrights/obitlilly.html

Coincidence, message from the universe, or google reading mi mind ("I'm not paranoid!! I have THE DOCUMENTS!!" :D), the timing for seeing the cute pic next to Lilly's was pretty awesome :)

  4. For example, in services, someone (*wink wink* Prometheus *wink wink*) could post something like:

  5. As this has been briefly discussed in other threads and is simple to get started, lets do this :)

To have a full-featured, yet simple and user friendly service will of course take some time, but we can start the development here in the forums. And in a way, the forum is maybe one of the essential parts of the full service :)

So.. I'd request a new forum category, Freicoin Community (or something else more fitting), with the following sections:

    - Services (For individuals offering and requesting services, like teaching, baby sitting, apartment or car sharing, tour guides, etc.)

    -- (subforums: Online, Local)

    - Jobs (For non-profits, small businesses and individuals to post job offerings and CV's/job seek)

    -- (subforums: Job Offers, CV's)

    - Market (For buy / sell / give)

    -- (subforums: Buy, Sell, Give)

Some templates would be posted on each forums to be used for people posting a new thread. This would make it easy to create a webapp for easily listing and creating them in more user friendly way.

  6. A little off-topic, so I'll keep this short.. I was more of thinking/hoping for some "live" teaching sessions :) Like mentioned, there's many good courses/tutorials online, both free and commercial, but live sessions where the participants could ask questions after or during the class are prettymuch under the rock when you would need them :P Of course, one could hire a professional for one-to-one sessions, but its often pretty expensive or time consuming to find a proper teacher. And group classes are usually more fun anyways ;) TeamViewer + Mumble sessions or similar... but yeah.. off-topic, so lets discuss this in another thread ^^

Can't wait for the dolphin version!  B)

  7. Good watch, and a great video to share to "common" folks :)

Andreas M. Antonopoulos answers Canadian Senate Committees questions regarding cryptocurrencies. Stream from the Parliament of Canada website can be found here: http://senparlvu.parl.gc.ca/Guide.aspx?viewmode=4&categoryid=-1&eventid=9692#

    Demurrage briefly mentioned too:

*edit: Time tag doesnt seem to work when embedding videos here, demurrage part @ 1:15:30 onwards

  8. Good stuff Prometheus :)

Really like the "multidimensionality" of the bird, though I hafta agree with the few people that think the bird looks a little mean at a first glance :D

Haha, the shark comment and pic at freicoin forums was hilarious ;) If ye have the time, I'd love to see a version of a little more fatter/rounder head for the bird... and a dolphin body version!

And also! Your way of explaining the topics you discuss is loud and clear, so I'd think you'd do fine teaching some Illustrator use ;) I'd be interested and more than willing to spend some kria for online course if you end up keeping one!

  9. Hehe, after seeing the title about "landless" nations, I somehow expected to read something about seasteding :P

    http://www.seasteading.org/floating-city-project/

But anyways, good read and I agree with your view :) Decentralized and autonomous programs running on blockchains as future "kings", where indeed the "peasants" will have the possibility to choose the one they like.. or several ones they like :)

    Quote from historian, Howard Zinn:

    Governments lie all the time.
Well, not just the American government, it's just in the nature of governments.

Well, they have to lie. And since they all represent the people, in some sense they act against the interest of the people.
The only way they can hold power is if they lie to the people.

If they told people the truth they wouldn't last very long.

  10. I think what is needed next is to outline a clear vision in which direction we want to develop with Freicoin.

This is what I kinda was after :) There's so many good opinions and ideas for ways forward, that its a little hard to get a grasp of things. I think having a live chat, preferably with audio or even video, would do much good to to get the views aligned and streamline the processes ^^ Maybe we could try to arrange a time for something like this?

  11. I agree with you, especially with the positive paradigm shift(s) :)

Though with the changing of society, it kinda depends on the perspective one is looking from, and how it is defined. Indeed, its hardly changing if you look at it broadly; we have the same social needs and traditions for interacting. But if one looks at how we interact and what expectations we have for those interactions, its changing radically :) Technology brings powerful tools for individuals to express themselves in so many new and different ways, that its stunning.

Another link to share on the same subject, with a great video: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/09/jason-silva-shots-of-awe-instagram-video_n_5787266.html

(the TED talk linked in the youtube description is great watch too btw ;))

  12. Thanks Arcurus!  :) For the welcome and your clear comments!

Regarding to the Freicoin Foundation, I think there is a misunderstanding. Currently the Freicoinfoundation is not meant to support the core development of Freicoin in any way. Currently the task of the Freicoin Foundation is just to issue 80% of the coins, through alternative transparent, fair, issuing methods then mining.

Ahh, I indeed phrased that misleadingly.. or actually outhright incorrectly.. I was aware of the sole purpose of foundations role for the distribution, but I guess I assumed the knowledge of the fact that the developers are mostly in "charge" of the foundation, that the point I was after was clear
So thanks for pointing that out! Great entry to have in the FAQ  :)

    But back to the topic:
At this time I think the best would be to focus on the part of Freicoin, that makes Freicoin different then other coins.
Currently that's mainly the donation matching.
First we should focus to bring that to run.
To make a simple program, that matches the donations daily should not be that difficult, but still we needed somebody to program it.

    Second:
The donating matching and foundation funds must be much more transparent, so that also non technical people can see what is going on. For example the matching program could create some html code to display the matching.

Also an donation counter which organisation has become how many donations in which time period.

I agree here :) I will look into this more and see if I can contribute ^^

    Third,
We should focus on developing Freicoin specific projects like the Freipay Gateway, that helps to boost Freicoin payments. Such projects could bring real use cases to Freicoin.

Yes! The Freipay would be the thing I see would have a great effect on Freicoin adoption  :) I will happily try to help with the project and can act as an "transaction handler" if needed  :)
I have also scribbled a process very similar to your idea to be part of the "Platform to confirm interaction" I described. Like you have the gold/silver/black projects, I was thinking of having the reputation system to score the organizations rating for the matched donations. For example, if organization has received a big % of negative feedbacks from employees/donators/associates, it would be categorized as black project . :)
So as this is something that would drive the platform idea further, let me know what is needed! :)

    Fifth,
We should keep on developing republicoin, to show, that an other decentralized and fair method other then mining is possible.
This would be equal to have a virtual Freicoin state / Federation.

More to that you can find here: http://freicoin.freeforums.org/republicoin-design-discussion-t738.html

I will read into this in detail when I get the chance : )

Of course all the other stuff, especially social media tipbots would be nice to have, but that is not what makes Freicoin different from other coins.
It would be really geat to have these social media tipbots, maybe in combination of giving some coins per day/ month to social media users this would be great.

I'd see these simple social media tools to be a powerful driver for adoption of use, especially for Freicoin  : ) Think combining the Freipay with tipbots ; )
But you are right! Concentrating first on the donation matching and freipay is wise and needed to be done first ^^

  13. An example for the Job/Service portal I scribbled during the summer:

    Platform to confirm interaction
    --
    Example situation:
I register to the platform and create a public profile with information I want everyone to be able to see.
I create a 'Looking for Job' entry in the platforms Jobs section
A non-profit organization that is registered in the platform contacts me, and we make a contract
We decide the contract to be public -> both our profiles will confirm the contract and establish a link between us, and the platform creates a record on blockchain (including the contracts hash or other in msg)

Now everyone could confirm that I'm involved with the organization, either from the organizations or my profiles "Active contracts" section.

After working with the organization for a month, we both agree that my contract was fulfilled, so we go ahead to terminate it.
The organization was happy with the work done, so they add an appraisal message when terminating the contract. Im happy with the note and confirm it.
The platform records the information again to blockchain (with the note, so hash changes) and updates our profiles accordingly; The contract is moved from "Active contracts" section to "Completed contracts".

Now when the contract is in completed status, I update my public profile to say that I have worked for the organization along with the special note the organization included.
The platform would now also allow us to leave a review of eachother, which would be visible as a comment in the completed contract.

    Comments:
Public contracts would promote transparency in organization
(The platform would of course allow the contract details to be private, since only a hash is only recorded on blockchain and the parties can choose if they publish it in the profile)
Public/confirmed comments would drive organizations to treat their employees better to keep them happy during the contract time.
Public comments would drive employees to complete their tasks as good as they can and not to cause problems/slack
    --

    Use cases?
    Confirmed CV for Job seeking
Confirmed content rating system for pretty much anything; Restaurants (like yelp), House rentals (like couchsurfing/airdnb), car rental (like uber), hotels, etc. etc.
Crowdfunding (link employees/contributors to the campaign to establish credibility)

  14. Hehe, like Bick, my first thoughts went on to thinking about the services that would be needed to promote the use of Freicoin, as indeed, the infrastructure is a wide subject :P I think developing and promoting services for Freicoin would be more suitable topic for Freicoin Alliance, as the Freicoin Foundation is already concentrated on the core developments. Though of course, in order to produce unique services for Freicoin, co-operation with the foundation in the coding front goes hand in hand with some of the services :)

(BTW, heres a great talk from few months back with Jorge Timon and Mark Friedenbach on the topic of core developments and more, if someone has missed it: https://soundcloud.com/epicenterbitcoin/eb-20-guests-jorge-timon-and-mark-friedenbach-bitcoin-2014-freicoin-freimarkets-sidechains)

So if this topic will concentrate more on the services side, here's a few ideas I'd promote:

    - Social media interaction

    Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, etc. tipbots

    - Fundrising service

With the idea of using the Foundations matching donations

(Iv'e had something similar to this in mind for a long time: http://www.coindesk.com/rushwallet-adds-instant-bitcoin-fundraising-feature/)

    - Job/service portal

To post post offerings and 'for hire' ads. Social media / linkedin style, where projects and people could confirm and record their relationships using the blockchain technology.

I've started to learn coding again and will aim to help with the developments. What actual services would you guys see to be the most important ones to help promote the idea behind Freicoin? :)

  15. Reporting to you live! With the situation being unveiled before our eyes!! When the glorious days of once strong and powerful alliance between the vikings may be re-forged!!!
Scandinavian group consisting mainly of the nationalities of once know viking countries are planning to make a change in the world! [insert some blah blaa bla blaaah, speculation, neglegation and misunderstood views here]

Hehe, heres something to enjoy, and to clue you in on the supposed ~joke here: http://satwcomic.com/

  16. Nice Post!

    To What can we do?

First of all we need some clear vision for Freicoin.

How can Freicoin look in the Future? What we want to do with the demurrage.

To have a coin with demurrage is not enough. We need to show what good things could be done with the demurrage.

    *clip*

I agree here, clear vision to show the difference of demurrage cryptos needs to show thorugh :) What is the current needs in todays world that can be addressed or changed.. what is needed to change the world further?  :)

To provoke everyones thoughts a little further.. think about what you would say was the most basic, but most important idea or need that was achieved with Bitcoin the currency if asked by someone who dont know nothing about the bitcoin technology? What was the need or needs it addressed?

And then.. what is still to be addressed the Bitcoin itself cannot address? :)

  17. Great points fellas, and great to see this kind of ideas being discussed now :)

And just a few words before getting to commenting :)
I've pondered on the ideas of demurrage based currencies from about the same time as cryptocurrencies in general, and have been very surprised with the lack of interest in deploying demurrage into crypto's during this whole time. I actually got started on writing a.. talk/post/paper or whatever it turns out to be :D.. regarding demurrage in cryptos some days ago, after now having most of the seasons garden work done and getting to finishing my somewhat broad trends research into cryptocurrencties. With clear goals and transparent ways to accomplish them, I would indeed see there to be a real need for demurrage cryptocurrency.
So what I'm trying to say here, is that I've done some ideaing and planning for promotion of adoption of demurrage cryptos for a while, and am very interested and willing to contribute to this! As long as the processes and goals are transparent and clearly set  :)

    Preamble

    *clip*

What we hope to accomplish in the meantime is a "relaunch" or "rebranding" of the coin so that we can ride the wave of discord and backlash against the 1000s of junk pump and dump coins that keep being born over and over again.

    The challenge?

    *clip*

There is also the challenge of the Freicoin Foundation with 80% of the coin and no realistic way of dispensing it all within the time frame they proposed. It is more than likely the 80% is going to go into destruction. We as a community need to be aware of that fact and we need to do what we can to protect that 80% of the coin base from being used inappropriately.

    *clip

I would see these parts to be the first things that needs to be addressed.
    - Rebrand / existing coin base?
This could affect so many user groups stances in so many different ways; some could see the currently small holders of the coin to have too much influence over the progress forward, some could see it to allow manipulation, some could argue it to allow booming innovation, etc.
In what state is the blockchain currently?
Should there a relaunch with clean ledger, or rebranding using the existing Freicoin ledger?

    - Relaunch / need to change fundamentals?
Is the 80% optimal amount to be pointed to Foundation? Should the % be lower?
Should there maybe be different groups receiving the funds instead of one? Is there a need to be able to increase these groups in the future?
Should the demurrage from existing coins be received by Foundation or some other group?
Is the current demurrage rate useful with the future goals?

These will affect the possibilities for progress and rate of adoption greatly. There's both good and bad in both depending on the goals to achieve.. so my question kinda goes to everyone: What would you see the best way to go forward? Promote the existing structure, or launch a new?
