  1. So I have the same problem. I tried to remove all my FRC fron vircurex and I never received the transaction. I wrote them am email.

RIK8119, if they are on the old wallet, is there anything that can be done to recover the coins? Even if they switch to a new wallet, aren't the transactions still assigned to the old chain? Or maybe they are not being processed.

  2. 4/6 nodes on version 3:

  3. Thanks Rick. While I am interested, I think the exchange rate is over valued. The last flurry of sells and buys on Vircurex occured at about FRC= 0.000001 to 0.0000007 BTC.

I will offer to buy 5000 FRC @ 0.000001 BTC (total price 0.005 BTC). Offer expires on Dec 23 midnight.

  4. The Freicoin community has shrunk to very few active miners and people willing to contribute. The value of the currency is very low and it is difficult to justify spending large amounts of time on it.  On the positive side, Freicoin is still considered as one of the innovative currencies. The developers are active with Bitcoin, Also, being small, it still a fun place to learn and the developers can implement new things. I'm planning on solo mining soon, for example.

  5. For the last few months, Vircurex was the last exchange to trade FRC. Vircurex web site has not been working very well the last month. There has been talk about FRC developers creating their own exchange. This is not running yet. For the moment, there are people here on the discussion board trying to trade. I estimate the rate as 1 FRC = 0.0000007 BTC.

  6. And the longest chain is version 3:

Thanks for you hard work, Fedde.

  7. Well my wallet appears to be working now. I am at a block height of 165506.

I am not sure exactly why it works now, but it may be because I ran the Freicoind.exe from the freicoin-0.8.6-2-win32-setup.zip. I Actually I didn't think it was working but I left it running for the day. The next time I opened the GUI wallet, everything was good. Certainly not all other things were left equal, and there could be another reason. Or maybe even something else was changed by the network angels.

    Thanks.

  8. The problem is that my wallet (0.8.6.0) and, it appears, many others are stuck at 164647. Debug log is not very useful. Shouldn't most of the network be at the same block height? I, at least, want to receiving my mining transactions.

Rik8119, would you mind telling me on what system you are running your wallet and whether you built it or just installed it?

  9. Using wallet v0.8.6.0-unk-beta.

Still unable to syncronize. It says "2 days behind" (this is when block 164647 was 'created').

  10. It is no longer very easy to download and run a Freicoin wallet. The new wallet simply won't install on my computer. The computer says its because its not the 64 bit version. I can't get past the 'libleveldb.a' error if I run a QT software--this is just beyond my skills.

  11. Network not very synchronized. Wallet not synchronizing.

  12. You know how when you search a question on Goggle and you find that many people post useless responses, this is one of those :-)

I have the same problem. I tried installing the new wallet on 64 bit AMD computer and I couldn't. The old wallet worked fine.

So you get my moral support. That should be worth a few FRC.

  13. Well it does seem to me that Freicoin has a few attributes that other slowly dying currencies don't have. Firstly, in many books on crypto currencies it's listed as one of the more innovative and interesting coins because of the demurrage concept. Second, it has a socialist anti-speculator sentiment that is popular these days. Also, because of the demurrage fee and the value of the coin, it seems to me that the fondation has no interest in holding funds either. So There is motivation to move that currency.

Of course one cannot deny there is only one mining pool, 4 regular miners, and most blocks only contain one or two transactions. The transaction  comprise mostly the creation of new coins (now recycled) and payments to miners. I'm not sure who the different addresses belong to.

  14. It seems to me, with the issuance of the coins complete and little circulation of currency, the demurrage process will effectively transfer the money from the foundation (and any other people holding large number of freicoins) to the miners. Since only the miners can get the new coins but will also loose coins, eventually all the money would be distributed amongst miners according to their hashing power. That would take about 13 years for 50% of the funds to move and 60 years for 95% of the funds to move to the miners. Its really just another issuance process.
