Atm its: @Skaro, @fedde, @Arcurus and @Bicknellski and me that are actively discussing/improving. There are some others that joining in from time to time but we are the core.
Latest Improvements are:
1. A blockexplorer showing the balance with the demurrage substracted -> freicoin.info.
2. A fast, good looking and easy to use exchange -> freiexchange.com.
3. Freicoin Wallet 0.9 tested and working -> https://github.com/eddef/freicoin.
4. The newest p2pool ported to freicoin -> http://alfa.sicanet.net:9638/static/ (Payout and Transaction count is not displaying correct but i will look into it when i have the mood;-).
5. Coinomi multiwallet including freicoin (beta version -should work but i am the only one that tested it atm) -> https://github.com/wincev/coinomi-android
I hope i haven't forgotten something!?

buzz word that everyone is talking about now is blockchain and how they can exploit it/use it. Freicoin doesn't offer much in that department. At the end of the day, Freicoin is Bitcoin that demurrage's. It would be nice if Freicoin could be awesome again. Even tho i wouldn't be rich, my coins were tied up in Vircurex hahaha. laaaaaaame. I havent been able to get a wallet to work on windows 10 64bit. Think i'm just going to get BTC as it crashes. Managed to pick up 6 at 400bucks each a year ago so thats turned into a nice little help!

Hey guys,
How is everyone? just been cruising around looking at how crazy the crypto world is going right now. It reminds me of when btc peaked at 1k for the first time and all the altcoins went bonkers! Hope you guys have made some great income off the sky rockets. I wish friecoin was still one of the coins around but it seems that it isnt on any exchanges these days except for the one you guys created (nice job by the way, looks cool)
In my cruising around and looking at all the madness i saw that my mining account had some btc left in it so i threw it onto a miner and pointed it at fed and fabs pool. Well i hope everyone is doing well.
Man i wish i had have bought ether when it was worth fuck all like everyone does i guess haha.

@Bicknellski maybe this would be something for your children:
4. We’re developing a Grantcoin savings account program for children in developing countries. Our team is drafting a proposal to present to two charities, one in Africa and one in Latin America, which have already expressed interest. We hope to expand the program to more charities in the future.

P2pool for freicoin, with merged mining of Rik's solidar coin is working on http://alfa.sicanet.net:9638/static/index.html
Miners connect to stratum+tcp://alfa.sicanet.net:9638 with your username = FRC payout address
Password can be anything.
This is testing fase so things can be a bit bumpy.
Cheers!

if you want to have unique coins i would suggest to add basic income based currencies like duniter: http://www.duniter.fr/
and http://www.grantcoin.org/
As far as i know duniter does not have a exchange yet and has very big potential so we could attract new people.
With bitcoin having 1 dollar plus fees i would also suggest to add at least one common used currency with less fees like dash, ethereum or steem.

@fedde was working on the registration process with using the forum. best contact him if you want to have the current news.
Other then that with the general development of Freicoin we have two possibilities, one is gradually improve the code.
Second is as outlined above to rebase it on new technology and learn out of past mistakes.

Arcurus reacted to Skaro in Future of Freicoin
Freicoin was almost dead and has recently come back through grass roots efforts: Fedde built a new exchange, and a new explorer was built showing demurrage paid. There was a wallet update last August.
These efforts are continuing. In the works are updating p2pool software, updating wallets, and Fedde's exchange will be expanding to include other crypto-currencies all trading relative to FRC.
The demurrage aspect of the currency means the coin is designed for spending and not speculating. Nevertheless, the present potential for value rise far exceeds the annual 5% demurrage fee. For this to be attractive, crypto-currencies need to find wider acceptance and circulation. Compared with 2008 and 2013, this appears to be happening now. Freicoin's developers are active and founding partners of Blockstream, and Freicoin is known for innovation (and not being a get rich quick scheme) since 2013.

Currently im very much busy in a festival preparation that is at 12 of July:: https://www.cecsweden.org/en/
Feel welcome to come if you want to enjoy something different. A nice tending space for free on a lake is alo near by. (Thanks god in Sweden you can tent in the wild for some days).
The main concepts for restarting Freicoin i outlined already this winter, i just have to put them together.
I can write a draft for a whitepaper economically + technically. The basis is a currency system from people for people. In a way it goes beyond that, it's more about a decentralized Freination. Currency is one part of it.
I like the idea of hiring a coder very much, because i'm myself little bit outdated in coding. Neither theless I could help to code most of the algs in pseudo code. During my study time i liked to work together in extreme programming way (two people code at the same computer) very much.
The basis for the money are people. Therefore decision making and securing the chain would be based directly on people.
At worst this would fall back to proof of stake (POS) security.
Up to know the most promising POS systems I know about are the one who combine proof of work with pos like for example dash does it through using a second layer on top of the proof of work chain.
This could look like this:
- for each freinode you must deposit X coins as security
- each freinode can have Y universal dividend receivers
- each pow block organises the list of freinodes hierarchically until the next block is mined
- the hierachicaly ordered freinodes generate the next block candidate
- a transaction is marked as irreversible if 80% of the freinodes agree that it is included in the current block candidate
- freinodes can veto other freinodes with a 2/3 majority. in this case the security cannot be used for a certain time period.
The biggest question is what technology to base it on?
- bitcoin node.js
- bitcoin c++
- ripple (can be made easy to fully POS, or proof of human), has distributed exchange
- duniter (has implemented proof of human, is build on a web of trust)
- steem (has trading, decentralized platform, 100% delegated proof of stake)
- ethereum???
Currently its really hard to say which of these technologies will make the breakthrough and therefore are good to base on...
My tendency is currently bitcoin / node.js, its platform independent, easy to code for web developers, good tested
To the demurrage:
- out of simplicity reasons i would implement it purely client wise / display only. This means there is a base currency that is inflated 5% per year, but on client site it is displayed as a demurrage by default. This would be easy to implement and also very easy to use.
Switching from old to new:
- if the new code is not directly based on Freicoin we could do it the following way:
1. make a clean new start. If agreed we can exchange for a certain time the old currency to the new at a certain rate.
2. import the amounts.

Hehe, i said speedup, not slowdown
Those are already in development and will be implented. Front page will be abit diffrent than today as you will be able to browse the markets without logging in.
The ticker i will also put on the todolist.

Time for a little update from behind the scenes ???? will see in a week or two depending on how much time i have to wrap things up
- live orderbooks
- multicoin trading ( more trading pairs)
- design fix up
- more speed
I am also adding new servers to alot of the network. I will be replacing alot of the old gear to keep all services up and running more or less as its time things get updated.
Got a deal on refurbished servers at 200$ a piece with new disks in the arrays (IBM). Also if someone want to rent a dedicated or shared , pm me.
Also any new features that other exchanges have that i have forgotten, let me know so i can evaluate and see if i can depoly them.
Cheers
Summer is here????
