Bicknellski 276
Is anyone else here in the Freicoin community mining or using Ethereum? If you are it be great if we can work together on testing and using Ethereum personally I want to play with and learn more about Ethereum but use it to help improve FRC. Maybe it would be good to somehow get add on to Ethereum wallet for FRC direct exchange. https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/guides/how-to-mine-ethereum/ fedde
Skaro 129
I am starting, very new to it! I am still downloading the chain. I didn't use the '--fast'. I didn't seem to work. So I just clicked on the .exe and I'm waiting, since Monday. I have a weakish AMD graphics card in this laptop, but I will try to mine. The plan is to get a new tower with gpu in next month. Skaro 129
looks like i'm synced.
Bicknellski 276
LOL Im still downloading the chain not sync yet. 1.7 million of 3.8 million completed.
Skaro 129
@Bicknellski, what are you planning on mining with, Radeon GPU? PS finally I downloaded about 20G in ~\Ethereum\geth\chaindata.
Bicknellski 276
I used to mine BTC with my HD7970 Radeon in 2013 so i will probably run that at home overnight or i might build a new rig for mining at school. I was hoping we could merge mine with ETH on fed and fabs pool ... but alternatively for the short term https://ethermine.org/ probably do that or a p2pool for ethereum.if they exist. Bicknellski 276
I am still trying to update block chain... ugh... 700,000 more blocks to go.
Skaro 129
How much RAM do you have? It took my around 2 days to download with 12G RAM. But your GPU is better than mine. When I try to mine, it crashes. So I have to figure that out. Ahhhh typical.
Bicknellski 276
Plenty of RAM nodes are a bit slow connecting... still need 300k blocks. Crazy slow on my laptop with 8gigs. I have not set up the better computer yet just wanted to test getting it loaded on this laptop first. Might be easier to buy ETH at this rate.
Arcurus 331
lol, if im using Ehtereum.... not that much yet.... i guess i have to try to get out my sunken Ethereum classic from the broken DAO.... quite some money worth now....
Bicknellski 276
Have to say... I am giving up. LOL! I never was able to get the blockchain updated. Why? No idea.

Skaro 129
Oh me too. Just updating the wallet for a couple of weeks takes longer that the initial load a month ago. I think this has to do with the denial of service attacks. Apperently there is a 'fast load' method, but I don't think this makes a difference for recent attacks. I too gave up. I will try 'fast load'. We have to figure this out so we can put Ethereum on the exchange. Honestly, I'm not sure how Ethereum can even function right now. I mean, my lap top has 12G of RAM and it can't update the wallet! To me, it's like Rick's animation ^^, a total car wreck. Bicknellski and Rik8119
Skaro 129
well anyway, it works better if you start with no block chain downloaded (empty chaindata\) then run C:\Users\Reza\AppData\Roaming\Ethereum Wallet\binaries\Geth\unpacked\geth --syncmode "fast" --cache 1024 console. That loads chain much faster. After that, run wallet. I'm not sure how wallet performance will be after that. more info: https://theethereum.wiki/w/index.php/Ethereum_Wallet_Syncing_Problems#How_to_recover_from_slow_syncing.3F Bicknellski

Bicknellski 276
Yup Arc that must be the way... but I always love to have the blockchain.
