Arcurus reacted to Prometheus in VAT or no VAT?
According to CoinDesk on 25th November, the Dutch Ministry of Finance (Jakob Kamminga) has voiced that, quote, «Bitcoin transactions will "probably" be not liable for value added tax (VAT)» and that «this is based on the notion that such exemptions apply to payments instruments, which, if the term is interpreted broadly, may include payments in bitcoin.» [Source].

And this reflects the main problem for me as a merchant to deal with these coins. The law is so ambiguous that planning ahead and accounting sounds more like a lottery than business. Ironically, some officials have expressed that they will tax bitcoins as lottery winnings. Others again, that it will be taxed as a commodity, and yet others that it will count as an equity or wealth. To say it's confusing would be an understatement. It's not easy getting people to trade using bitcoins when there is no real laws regulating it, and the ones that exist and are used are somewhat archaic-- and were written in a time where these payment-solutions were in the blue.

So what do you guys mean? What would be the best/worst scenarios law-wise? Should these coins be taxed at all? To me, taxing coins would be like putting a tax on people who use inches and feet instead of the meter and litre.

For sure OpenCart also has a feature called multi-store, which allows building a.. "network" of stores:
    http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=feature/feature&path=4

We've discussed this a little with Fedde before, the multi-store would allow creating stores for easier management that could be linked to Freicoin Alliance for example. For Freipay, this could allow the selecting of shops that would be supported

Arcurus reacted to Bicknellski in Freicoin Alliance will support payments / investments / donations in Freicoin.
As an Idea initially posted in the Freicoin Community Forums by Arcurus:

What would really help to boost Freicoin is if the Alliance would support payments / investments / donations in Freicoin.

In the beginning this could look like that:

The Freicoin Alliance (or a project to handle this) is registered on the Freicoin web for donation matching.

In the beginning instead of directly paying, one pays to this registered project, the project then pays to the payment provider (or shop). After the donation matching (or even before if the project has some reserve Freicoins), the buyer gets the matched Freicoins. 50% of the matched Freicoins go to an registered non profit on the choice of the user. To be fair the extra Freicoins per user are limited (users are allowed to group up). Later on the paying could be directly done over an payment provider if the payment provider cooperates. The same procedure could also apply for investments and donations, even to non Freicoin accepting NGOs
This could be advertised like: Pay / invest or donate in Freicoin and get 5% Freicoins back and 5% to an registered non profit of your choice! *
Also proxy payments and donations to Bitcoin businesses and NGOs are supported at an reduced rate (up to 3%) and 3% to an registered non profit of your choice!

*to guarantee fairness the maximal payment amount per user will be be limited.

This could really boost Freicoins especially if the donation matching would be increased to 50%.

    Imagine that:

This could be advertised like: Pay / invest or donate in Freicoin and get up to 25% Freicoins back and up to 25% to an registered non profit of your choice!*
Also proxy payments and donations to Bitcoin businesses and NGOs are supported at an reduced rate (up to 15%) and up to 15% to an registered non profit of your choice!

This could really boost Freicoin like anything!

And because it could be limited per user it could be really fair!

    Just as an idea.

    All the good,

Arcurus reacted to Fabrizio in Ubuntu Movements IndieGoGo - Tables & Chairs For UBUNTU Community Kitchen
    https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/tables-chairs-for-ubuntu-community-kitchen

We need tables and chairs to open the UBUNTU Community Kitchen and feed the hungry

    What We Need
We urgently need 300 chairs and 15 metal folding tables to open the doors and start serving the community - in the Community Kitchen and Hall. All the other basic necessities are in place for us to open the doors and functioning simply but effectively.

Service to the People - Heart of the Community
The revamped town hall will be the heart of the community because this is where the community kitchen is located, that will feed all those who participate in the many community projects on a daily basis - this will include the orphans, the aged, the homeless and all those who simply cannot afford to buy food.
The new UBUNTU Community Hall will also be the venue for daily literacy classes, sewing, knitting, the new gym, martial arts, yoga, concerts, theatre, talent shows, movies, documentaries and much more activity - a true community centre.

The Bad State of the Hall
The badly vandalised town hall was rescued from complete destruction by Michael Tellinger and the UBUNTU movement in Waterval Boven, South Africa. When we took over the venue it was in a disgusting state. The doors were all open and broken, some were ripped off causing damage to frames and structure; everything inside this amazing large venue was broken, stolen and vandalised. Most of the fixtures in the kitchen, bathrooms, toilets, plumbing, lights and electrical wires were ripped out and damaged.

The stage and back stage area was reduced to a rubbish dump and so was the surrounding garden. There was no electricity and no lights.
The worst part was that the entire hall had turned into large public toilet with human excrement everywhere. The lower part of the venue was filled with water from leaking water pipes mixed with human excrement, urine and trash, several inches deep. It was truly disgusting.

    The Restoration
The first thing we did was to install metal security gates on 4 external doors, to prevent vandals from entering and causing more damage. Then the real work started. We spent 4 months cleaning, scrubbing, sweeping, mopping, scraping, sanding, painting, wiring, plumbing, fixing and restoring... to turn it into a functioning multi purpose community hall that will serve the people. The biggest challenge was to restore electricity - since the main fat electrical cable into the venue were cut off and we had to find which wires connected the various parts of the venue.

This is what we have done so far:
Installed security gates; cleaned the entire venue and removed several truck loads of trash; cleaned up the garden of rubble and 7 years of trash and broken bottles; repaired leaking pipes to stop flooding; scraped; sanded; painted wooden and metal exterior doors and rails; rewired much of the venue for lights and electrical plugs; cleaned and fixed the kitchen to a usable state - but far from an acceptable standard under normal conditions; and so much more.
Now we have water in the kitchen and bathrooms; electricity and lights in all the necessary areas - but much more needs to be connected; we have one working toilet and 2 hand basins. We still need to fix ladies and gents toilets, install some new fittings and repair the plumbing. But for now we are ready to start serving the community.

    The Function?
The Community Kitchen will start preparing food in the morning to feed the community project workers at noon, for the morning session and again at 3pm for the afternoon session. Everyone that participates in any of the community projects will be able to get a decent plate of food, a glass of home made lemonade and coffee or tea and a free movie - every night.

    Funding the Community Kitchen
While the Community Hall will provide mostly free activities for the people, there will be some activities that will be charged for. This income will buy the food for the kitchen. Those that do not participate in community projects will be able to come get a plate of food and watch a movie for R25.00 ($2.50)  This has already created excitement in the community and people are eagerly awaiting the daily activities. At 5pm every day, we will screen a conscious documentary that will inform and educate people about a variety of topics.

So far, the funding for all the repairs and upgrades have come from Michael Tellinger, income received from the sales of the UBUNTU book, money raised by Michael from his presentations around the world, and a small number of donors who make regular contributions to UBUNTU.
But the tables and chairs are just out of reach for us right now. So please make a donation here OR on the UBUNTU website if you want to become regular donor - help us open this venue as soon as possible - click on this link: http://www.ubuntuparty.org.za/p/donate.html

This brought my eyes up for Freicoin as it's different from most coins out there. It gives us a task to make people familiar to use the coin and this community shows the strength to do it. It gives user like me the fun back in projects to use a new type of payment in the applications without going through the big banks.

I belive the community here can move mountains once we really get this train moving!

I've had the same experience Cutting out just processed sugars can have amazing results by itself ^^
Removing or greatly limiting processed sugars and gluten from diet is usually the best way for obese people to lose weight Even a little bit of exercise on top of that and people have been really amazed of the speed of the results.
I'd also recommend playing with ones eating schedule. I've found it to increase my energy levels and productivity, to not eat 2-3 hours after waking up and before going to sleep

I like that people get worked up about it. But really this conspiracy can be broken if we just have better education so that students and families eat better and make better choices. It is great to have the tinfoil hat conspiracy people beating the gmo / food industry drum to a point.

No so much a conspiracy as the reality.

Here is a really good way to look this food issue.

Go to your supermarket and try and shop for things that do not have added sugar.

That pretty much cuts out almost 70% of the foods in the supermarket.

Then look for slow foods. Foods that are fresh and unfrozen or would require you to prepare the food to eat.

Then look for foods that are from your area.

It is pure insanity the food system.

Heart disease / Diabetes alone are killing more people every year than anything else.

    http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs312/en/

    Key facts Diabetes
347 million people worldwide have diabetes* (1). In 2012, an estimated 1.5 million deaths were directly caused by diabetes (2). More than 80% of diabetes deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries (3). WHO projects that diabetes will be the 7th leading cause of death in 2030 (4). Healthy diet, regular physical activity, maintaining a normal body weight and avoiding tobacco use can prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes. http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs317/en/

    Key Facts CVD
CVDs are the number one cause of death globally: more people die annually from CVDs than from any other cause (1). An estimated 17.3 million people died from CVDs in 2008, representing 30% of all global deaths(1). Of these deaths, an estimated 7.3 million were due to coronary heart disease and 6.2 million were due to stroke (2). Low- and middle-income countries are disproportionally affected: over 80% of CVD deaths take place in low- and middle-income countries and occur almost equally in men and women (1). The number of people who die from CVDs, mainly from heart disease and stroke, will increase to reach 23.3. million by 2030 (1,3). CVDs are projected to remain the single leading cause of death (3). Most cardiovascular diseases can be prevented by addressing risk factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diet and obesity, physical inactivity, high blood pressure, diabetes and raised lipids. 9.4 million deaths each year, or 16.5% of all deaths can be attributed to high blood pressure (4). This includes 51% of deaths due to strokes and 45% of deaths due to coronary heart disease (5). ----

Personally I have actually gone on a diet that cut out most of this and I have to say it changed my ability to concentrate and think clearly.

Solar & Bio Gas Generator: Mining

Cold climate waste biogas heat can warm the greenhouse.

I have a certificate as a Greenhouse Technician. Given what I know about simple lean to or hoop houses you could definitely use mining in the mix to help heat the greenhouse as long as you have large enough solar array and bio gas genset.

Arcurus got a reaction from Fabrizio in What happened with all the Economic discussions :)
If people want to use directly Freicoins, go on with that.
But I see no use in Euro backed paper wallets...
In a way the perception dollar is very easy to explain, much easier then crypto currencies, just give it in the hand. Beauty speaks for itself
The Ubuntu ideology is also very easy to understand, just participate in creating something together.
You must understand, that participation in an local community is an basic human need. Through society, the current culture, current school system , wearing cloths just to mention some people are just detrained to follow these natural instincts of helping each other.
But back to the topic, here an example how an Freicoin Backed Basic Income could work:
    1. Founding
Group up with for example 10 people.
In the beginning and once in a while make an live-stream transmission and invite other nearby groups to share / build trust relationships / verify identities.
Make an group picture of this event and share it online, the more transparent the better.
    2. Signing up with Freicoin Word Citizens Network
Get some Freicoins, so that you can take part in getting your basic income for your group.
Give the Freicoins out directly to your members if they want to use it directly (forget paper wallets, use mobile wallets if you want to use Freicoin).
or give them some note instead, that represents one FreicoinDay (see below)
Design your local community backed currency or use one design which is already there.
Back it with Freicoin if you want. For example one of this currency = one FreicoinDay (basic income in Freicoins)
For example lets say each person can get 3.000* Freicoins per month from the basic income network.**
This means 100 Freicoins per day, so an FreicoinDay would equal 100* Freicoins.
Participants can get the Freicoins directly, or an note that represents one FreicoinDay, you can give it also another name(but no paper wallet)
If an participant takes the paper money, the Freicoin Group will hold the Freicoins for him,
The Freicoin Group may lend them without interest to other groups or invest in community projects.
*If the value of Freicoin happen to rise, these number will naturally decrease. So one Freicoin day (also the old ones) would be for example 50 Freicoins if the value of a Freicoin doubled. This means that one Freicoin Day will always be one Freicoin Day, therefore lending and accounting can be done in this more stable unities.
If the value decreases, an Freicoin day would be equal to more Freicoins.
**To get the basic income, with currently 25% matching, the local Freicoin Group must "have" for each person 3000*4 = 12000 Freicoins
Imagine the economy of that. If the Freicoin price rise, people would need to have less Freicoins to back up their Freicoin Days and to get their basic income, so more Freicoins would be available, so the market would become more liquid and balance the price.
Also the other way round. The more the price falls, the more Freicoins are needed to get the full basic income amount and to back the Freicoindays, the less Freicoins would be available on the market, which would balance the price.

Sicanet has created a Cointopay module for opencart. It was made in close work with Cointopay to integrate Freicoin into their web wallet system as Freicoin at this point had no merchant gateway tools and it was needed.

Thanks to Christian and his support team at Cointopay and my team of developers in Sicanet we made a fully working payment processor for Freicoin and other supported coins that Cointopay support.

Cointopay can also act as exchange from Fiat to Freicoin.

With the latest release of Opencart (2.0) we are rewriting the module and preparing a release during the next few days! I might have a suprise for this release

I like the idea of the perception dollar, but its been hard to get people here in the town to understand even the concept of cryptocurrencies. I've spoken about the Ubuntu ideology.. world without money, barter, value, etc. but people are not ready to accept those ideas yet.
This is a small town, with only less than a hundred people living here. Counting the surrounding towns, the population is maybe around two hundred. And.. the average age is somewhere around 50 I'd guess  Most folks 60+. With only a handful of teenagers (I know only two here this town ), and most of them will likely move to bigger cities when they get the chance :I
In the nearest city, where the townfolks also have to visit for shopping and so on, there's however some more action... would you think it's still worth the while to try to explain and go for the perception dollar?

I was thinking of using Freicoin directly, to promote the technology and idea behind cryptos. So far it has been received well. And via teaching the use of Freicoin, I'd have the chance of having other classes on using computers and mobile devices for everyday life. Only a handful of the older people here have learned how to surf the web.

    For example
    1. create local community / find some local that share your vision
    2. create your own local currency like Unity Credit, transition Credit or something.
    3. Make sure to what society / world you want make a transition to
    4. Get inspired by the perception dollar. The main point is to change the perception.
    5. Use local projects / persons where you want bring the awareness to on your currency.
    6. Give out 30 of these Transition Credits per month (so one per day.
    7. Encourage people that they give some kind of Rabat if they give one of this notes during an purchase
    8. Encourage that merchants put a sign with an nice symbol (like an smiling world) on their store and the percentage of their Rabat they give.
    9. If you want bag your Transition Credits with Freicoins through using the Freicoin basic income project.
    10. Group up with other world wide Transition communities
    11. Enjoy Life and have some fun!

I'm for the citizens dividend / basic income, but wouldnt see the basing of it in dollar value (or any other fiat) to be good in the long run since the crypto markets are driven so greatly by speculation and other greedy actions and fuckery (pardon my french ).

I've been wrecking my brain with this for months and would see the technology needing to mature a bit more before this would be possible in world wide scale  Something like freimarkets/republicoin could allow this to be achieved?
For now, one solution could be to have communities establish common good projects / activities to provide the basic human needs; proper housing and food. Maybe electricity and access to internet on top of that

The thing I'm working to establish here in the town is based in the Ubuntu ideals: work towards the communitys benefits few hours a week and be entitled for those needs
Hmm, I'm too tired to get my thoughts out straight at this point, so will try outline the plan I have so far tomorrow
