  1. Maybe tip the friend towards services like TwitchTV and Patreon :) Have read quite a few exciting stories and seen some wacky numbers for income on those kinda services when you provide good content :)

  2. Tried out both of these on this Windows 7 machine and I get the same results. Will try later on Debian.

Didnt try the RPC calls, but there seems to be need for some formatting on Windows machines:
    From bitcointa.lk forums:

"Note that on windows, RPC command lines have to be properly escaped if you are typing them at the command line and not into the bitcoin-qt console (Help->Debug Window->Console). Example:

    [

    bitcoind sendmany "FromAccountName" "{\"1BiTCoinSNU2BMzf2cN2TK4yzPUA6CnTAd\":.001,\"1DCeLERonUTsTERdpUNqxKTVMmnwU6reu5\":.002}""

    ]"

For the sendmany error, find the error msg from GitHub: https://github.com/freicoin/freicoin/blob/master/src/rpcwallet.cpp

    Find keyword -> keyChange

Still learning to read code miself, but maybe something to do with the constructing of the transaction message?

Theres also a latter rebase of the client for 0.9: https://github.com/freicoin/freicoin/tree/0.9
Maybe you have time to try out if the problem(s) persist on that one? :) (will try later miself too when I gets the time :))

  3. 'Oy 'oy Dicky! :) Nice to have ye posting here at the FA forums ^^
"Winter is coming!! Lets get ready!!" Hehe ;)

But yah, I've also played around with IPFS for the last few weeks and looking to learn more about Ethereum... was planning to do so already last week.. but got sidetracked with some white paper reading and cruise ship funtimes :D
Anyways, I'd totally support the idea of using some of the FA funds for a giveaway for hosting material (documents, documentaries, wiki's&opensource books related to Freicoin ideals, etc.) on IPFS. I'm not sure if theres already an opensource project for monitoring IPFS nodes/node availability.. but I'd guess we could get something sorted out for this (distribute FRC according to node availability, resource/bandwith use, or something similar?) :) Accomplishing this with Ethereum contracts (via Oracles/API's or such) would be ideal.. but I think we could try this out a bit more centralized fashion first?

  4. Added!
Pretty neat website, I'll have to say :) Props for linking to github for the dev'ing & project/feature requests :)

Hehe, boo for the discussion platform though :D Not to mi liking at all, prefer SMF or such over that one.. hands down ;) Have seen a couple of forums migrate to that, and have had to stop using them :I (privacy reasons + tracker/ad/script blockers break the functionalities)

  6. Yups :)

Would anyone else have some interest in participating with ideas and maybe contribute some time for this? :)
Maybe we can try and have a meetup on IRC/mumble after a long while again :)

I'll be hanging on the FA Mumble during the days anyways too, so if anyones up for random chatting, hit me up there! (Warning: my finglish is very viking like mumbling :D)

  7. Lets try to get this idea rolling a bit? :)

There's now few maturing technologies / projects / services that we could maybe use for some organizing and automation?
Ethereum (a bit complex to setup, but could be doable?)

Token systems / colored coins / counterparty (example: Tokenly)

BitShares (not too good for the long term?)

MoBUinet (still under development, but nice layout)

There's also a lot of more centralized options too as open source projects, so we could also try to get a more customized/specific system with Freicoin directly.. but that would need coders and more time of course :)
So just for starters and testers, we could try out some of these already existing projects?

Have you guys come across or followed some projects that could be useful? :)

  8. Hey hey hey :)
Like the idea of distributing some of the FA's Freicoins, Arcurus, *nods*

While I have doubts (note: I'm not educated at all about economics) in "public" giveaways (where you just hand out free coins, like faucets) being that productive/beneficial, I like the idea of supporting co-operation and encouraging propagating ideals of Freicoin.

Maybe you guys can comment on an idea I've been thinking of giving a try here locally?
Offer giveaways for common-good projects, for example:
Have one day (for starters) a week, when you offer 10 FRC (or 1FreiHour) / hour salary for anyone that participates in a project for helping out the elderly, cleaning up/enhancing the public services, etc.

"Public services" would be something that would enhance the local community in some way. Like here in this town; having an excercise/bingo/oldies music/documentary/chatting night in the local hospital, having an after-school "hangout" for school kids, or de-snowing the jogging or commonly used sightseeing routes.

In this way, we could maybe link this to the Freination project?

BTW, from what I've understood, the Sidechain project by Blockstream seems to have had positive experiences and has progressed pretty nicely. Theres some features in there that would be nice to have in Freicoin as well... so, as the Freicoin ~wallets are still based on pretty old version of Bitcoin.. should we be trying to attract testers and/or developers to work on that? Or maybe wait and see how the Sidechain project develops and not risk "wasting" the resources on "if's"?

  9. Yeah, we played around with the paper wallets with a few geezers a bit and it worked pretty fine as an alternative currency between us.

However, with Freicoin theres a bit of a problem with the demurrage.. the 10FRC paper wallet is not 10FRC but for the moment its created. I guess it would be possible to create a system to work around it (book keeping), but I guess its too troublesome for the situation here in the town.

While I hope to see a solution to the paper wallet situation in future, I wish to get the older folks to try out the gadgets for payments and getting them online to follow and participate with the community happenings.

  10. Thanks Arcurus :) Noticed it the other day, but havent had the time to translate and look into it properly. Have some famliy visiting for some days, but I'll hope to get to it in a few days

Samuel, thats a good simple example and and logically explained, thanks  :)

I wonder if its a big task to hook/create a simple webfront like the Mangos, but use actual Freicoins? We've had a few similar ideas around the community, but like Arc has mentioned, theres been only a few coders.
For alpha and everything testing, rough and out-there builds are fine, so everything doesnt need to be on the blockchain at first.. but would be great if there would be somehow do the accounting so, that one can have Freicoins they "own" in their wallets if they want at some points. We already have some tools that could be useful in such tests, and since you seem to know some codemagicianing, hopefully you could resurrect some and get them to good use ^^
Fedde's minershare system could be tuned to be used in the early dividend handling... or something, I'm rambling again

But yeah, I live in Finland, in a small town about 200km north from Helsinki. Mäntyharju being the municipality :) The townsfolks are mostly older folk, with very few youngsters around.. but they're pretty active and community spirited peoples some of them :) I've managed to get some of them to try out the "feel" of alternative currencies with Freicoin, with paper wallets and being like an accountant and doing things on gadgets for them :D Very few from these folks are tech oriented though.. my uncle dont have a PC and rarely even uses his dumbphone for example :D .. so its hard to find actual participants for tests from around here :I
At the "city" center of Mäntyharju though, theres lil more people and tech oriented youngsters who would be a bit more suited audience and have shown some interest already too. Hehe, coding an easy to use and open custom system has been the biggest ~obstacle here too, but maybe and hopefully we cant get something cooking this winter :)

  11. Excellent clips there Bick, thanks for linking 'em :) Recommend others to check 'em out.. atleast the shorter 'Humans Need Not Apply' clip. The automation industries have taken huge leaps in the precision and efficiency and some of them are already prettymuch ready for market. Especially with the driverless cars. Its something not in the future, theyre already here... think how many drivers-to-lose-jobs there are in the transportation industry?

  12. Hi Samuel! Nice to have you here :)
Interesting ideas for the economy :) Too bad that most of this stuff goes over the top of mi head, so cant really comment on any of it :D Been trying to grasp an lil understanding of different theories and "law"s for the past months.. but I'm still totally at loss :P Hehe

I've been pondering about how to adopt a simple system for a small local economy. Whats good to introduce first to get people used to the new idea, and whats the essentials to avoid abuse or misbehaviour? What test cases can be tried out with 10-40 people?

You guys have any insights or opinions? :)

Ohh, and having events like the Hackerspace is a great idea too in mi opinion, would gladly join if there was one a bit nearer :)

  13. Sup Arcurus :) Sorry, been a lil out there for the summer and forgot to reply earlier :P
Anyways, all went good and a nice harvest was shared. Since there was only a few people who participated, we went with the smaller greenroom.

I'm currently organizing a group buy for parts to build DIY LEDs on another forum to prepare for a new round of winter growing. If theres interest or question aboots either, the LEDs or the co-op grow, lemme know :)

  14. 'ola Bicknellski :) Hope you've had a nice and beautiful few months :)

Time flies by when you're having fun and busybeeing around. Summer season is making its way slowly here in Finland, so been tied with gardening and some community work, and of course.. following the ever increasing advancements in blockchain tech. Also attending the MOOC 3.0 by University of Nicosia and trying to complete the course ^^

We had some setbacks with the local towns FRC adoption.. the only shop&bar in the town wont be opening this year due to health issues of the owners. However, the plan for the farmers market to adopt Bitcoin and Freicoin is still in the plans :) The farmers market will be opening in June.
Also have discussed with number of shops in the nearby small city to start accepting Bitcoin and Freicoin and few of them are very into it and will be testing them out ^^

Signed up as a volunteer for one of the biggest outdoor weekend parties here in Finland too, and will be trying to establish some use cases for FRC during the event :)

Some interesting artists and guests there :) Graham Hancock on the participants! ^^
