I have a rule with these coins. BTC/FRC etc must be as simple or even simpler to use, more secure and more versatile than cash. Security is covered with encrypted passwords, so that is out of the picture, but that leaves simplicity. The simplicity of FIAT cash is about as simple as it gets, but if you bring with you a £100 note, you're stuck with those, and you can't split it just like that, you can't scan it and make it more or less valuable, you can't pay online with FIAT notes and so on.

With crypto currency the development is on the right track. In the future you can probably register your own name or physical signature to use as your wallet address, some beacon or even your biometry data, like facial signature, iris and fingerprint, the bollocks. Something unique to you only or a combination of that.

Right now I'm working on the physical wallet itself, trying to find a simple way to seal the private key. The simplest solution until now is a paper folded twice (I made it three squares in a row) with a lovely c-section (one for the ladies  ) along the second false (fold), so you can "lock" what's printed on the first two squares away from prying eyes and cameras, while the rest is easily accessible. See attached sketch below.

While working on this, I got thinking about the kind of ration stamps that were in use during and after the war over here-- could it be useful to have more than one public key? Either identical ones or unique, so they could be torn off and given away almost like a business card? On an A4 page you'd manage to have at least six extra public keys in addition to the one above.

Lone Gunmen March 4, 2001 PILOT EPISODE
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRtqQLMAZek

I love this one. Released in spring 2001, the pilot for the X-Files spin-off show The Lone Gunmen (remember the hackers Mulder visits from time to time, those guys, fantastic series covering most of the classic conspiracy theories btw) follows a plot that has very much in common with the 11-09-2001 attacks, or rather, in common with the conspiracy theories that came bubbling out of the abyss that opened, concerning the supposed inside-job conspiracy, RC planes, controlled demolition, the whole and shameful crap&fan commotion that started after 9/11. Anyway, I remember seeing this episode not long after the fact, and it struck me how whoever brought down those NY pillars, they must have seen that episode. Still strikes me as odd.

Oki, here goes my current idea for the community dividends:

    1. Set up a community bank/reserve and fund it (for example with 100 000 FRC). Single address.
    2. Create paper wallets of 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20, 30, 50, 100 FRC. Use the FRC from the community banks single address to fund these.
    3. Confirm the identities of participants and create two individual addresses for each
    4. Distribute certain amount of these paper wallets (to be decided) to each registered community member.
    5. Allow exchange of these wallets 1/1 to Euro's. Keep these exchanged Euro's as a reserve for common good community project fundings.
    6. Create a service / application that can be used to confirm the balance of the paper wallets by scanning the QR code.

So, every month, community members would contribute certain amount (10 FRC for example) to the community bank with the paper wallets (or in Euros). These contributions would be made to one of the individual addresses created in the registration, to keep track of the contributions.
In farmers market and community events, prices would be in FRC's for the community members, but also in Euro's to allow non-community members to buy the goods. The Euro's from these sales would be exchanged to FRC's 1/1 via the community bank (this obviously requires trust in the participants)

There would be weekly or monthly community gatherings, where the current community banks budget would be audited and discussion on common good projects to be supported would be decided. The another individual address would be used to sign/vote on these projects.

--- Setting up common good / community projects
For example, a farming project could work something like this:
    - A person decided by the community would offer farm land to be used for a community project to produce healthy food. He would oversee the project.
    - Other persons sign up to contribute time to support the farming. Be it daily/few times a week/weekly.
    - After each workday, the person overseeing the project, would sign with the secondary address, that these persons have indeed contributed towards the project.
When the monthly meeting is held again, the contributions would be checked and if it falls within the lines of the community's contribution requirements, he would be entitled to daily free meals and a housing within the community.

Hehe, I bet I missed something and there is some "holes" in this, so, discussion and ideas on this would be much appreciated Nothing is set in stone and the project is still under development ^^

I have been unavailable for quite some time, and didn't read this until now. I'll keep it in mind and see what I can come up with together with Fedde who had some ideas as to how we can make it work application-wise. Sooo wink noted, I'll keep you informed. Should I post sketches here in this thread?

Woosh! It's all good, read the post you made in the other thread a while back (and have totally forgotten/not had the time to post a sensible reply :F), so a little time off is no wonder ^^ But great to see ye back now buddy!

And yeah, would be cool to see some sketches and ideas, so feel free to post anything related here

I've taken a liking in the Perception Dollar's design which Arcurus shared a link to in other thread, could be something to get some ideas from: http://www.communitycurrency.org/perception.html

We'd be starting to have use for this soonish (within the end of the year), so I'll offer a bounty getting this done: 5000FRC.

I'd love if the paper wallet would have some kind of forest / lake theme, or other nature orientation. Maybe even have something similar to the coat of arms shown in here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mäntyharju

Would anyone (*wink wink* Prometheus *wink wink*) have the time to design some simple paper wallets for A4 size prints?
The paper wallet should be foldable, so that the private key is "inside" / not visible until opened. The visible sides should have the public key in its long form, the QR code, the Freicoin logo and an area for the value/amount of coins in the wallet. Maybe the Freicoin Alliance logo as well?

The Freicoin logo can be either the current one, or the new one found in the New Freicoin Logo thread (http://freicoinalliance.com/topic/19-new-freicoin-logo/)

Prometheus got a reaction from Fabrizio in Create a site for answers and how-to's
Sorry guys, I've not been active much lately. Lots of crap has happened in my life these last couple of weeks and I've been rather miserable. Short story is my best mate since I was three just died, and yesterday I cut my bleeding hair off in some vain attempt at feeling better. Well. Anyway, disclaimer up, here's what I've been thinking:

My coding skills are limited to html and css at best. So building a search engine, well, it's not my table, but though I changed the title to involve a search engine, well, as Fabrizio says, it's an obstacle, but it doesn't have to be one, and I am not really sure what to call this eh site or THING. Cause the thing is, how we can make the site self sustainable? Meaning that somehow, (users) perhaps from being rewarded in satoshis or simply for the fame and glory (they're still out there), there must be a dynamics here, that in the process of posting a requested solution to a problem, tagging and categorising these requests and solutions is what will be the first vital thing, and there must be a system of rating to find the best solutions and some system for automatically moderating, it could easily turn out to be too bloody impossible to waste ones time with. But. Like, if you want to know for instance "why water is heavier than air?", you will have to tag your question with keywords the user would expect his solution from. If the user wants the scientific dry factual approach, he'd hook off "physics, thermo dynamics..." whatever he'd expect the solution to include. However, this guy may want to know how Plato or Archimedes would explain it, or for that matter what the Bible has to say about it, so then he'd put those keywords in his request. See where I'm going?

I figured I could make some kind of mock-up demonstration when I have a clearer picture, showing features I'd expect this, eh, THING (search engine or what one should call it), to include. I thought about a format using the concept from quizzies like there is a radio show in Norway called "20 questions". The contestants must name a word a listener has sent in, and they can ask the host up to 20 questions to find the correct word, well, you get it. Typically the first question is whether this word is describing something in the mineral kingdom, animal kingdom or plant kingdom etc. and then they start searching. Perhaps there could be some kind of set framework, or some standard questions users must answer, I don't know?

I haven't tossed this in the bin just yet, for I believe it is a good idea. This product isn't out there as far as I can see. Closest I get is youtube.com, answers.com and google.com, it has element of all three, which if put together, this Right! thing could potentially enhance the internet experience much like these three mentioned sites did when they showed up. You'll never know, you know....

Prometheus reacted to Fabrizio in Service / Job Portal
As this has been briefly discussed in other threads and is simple to get started, lets do this

To have a full-featured, yet simple and user friendly service will of course take some time, but we can start the development here in the forums. And in a way, the forum is maybe one of the essential parts of the full service

So.. I'd request a new forum category, Freicoin Community (or something else more fitting), with the following sections:
    - Services (For individuals offering and requesting services, like teaching, baby sitting, apartment or car sharing, tour guides, etc.)
    -- (subforums: Online, Local)
    - Jobs (For non-profits, small businesses and individuals to post job offerings and CV's/job seek)
    -- (subforums: Job Offers, CV's)
    - Market (For buy / sell / give)
    -- (subforums: Buy, Sell, Give)

Some templates would be posted on each forums to be used for people posting a new thread. This would make it easy to create a webapp for easily listing and creating them in more user friendly way.

Prometheus got a reaction from Fabrizio in What? Landless nations?
I believe the future of nations is borderless and landless. There will be traditional states and national denominations also in the future, but I believe we will also see the advent of decentralised nations issuing passports and legal security to people living anywhere in the world. Some sort of unions or organisations issuing economic and juridical frameworks for it's subjects.

A nation is its people, it's tax-system and its laws, not politics and billion dollar elections or millions of square feet of more or less useless landmass. Most politicians are basically laymen with big mouths and an untamed desire to have the last say, and often, the people working for these politicians are normally much higher educated and are in most cases the people who actually do what the elected politicians have negotiated.

I believe the time of politics and traditional 'king and conquer' belongs to the past. Only in the last 50 years have we seen what could be called "just kings" or "reasonable governments", then again during this time nearly all kings were relieved from their power and the national govs were put under UN scrutiny and other international charters. Kings were turned into what they really are-- archaic hatstands. Very expensive archaic hatstands. The future will bring nations where people are not bound to live in a specific place or pay taxes to the ones who actually owns all your property (they just make you pay for it so you can pretend you actually own land, but in real world you actually don't really own anything), and cashing in 10 times it's value in a normal lifetime.

The new kings will run their nations like businessmen and scientists, and issue health insurance and educational services and sort out trade agreements and offer security and diplomatic services etc. And they will have to deliver quality and be really good at it in order to keep their subjects loyal. In the future we will not elect wankers to be on top, but we will simply choose our nation among many available ones, based on what is best for you and your family, your business, economy, education and health etc.

How does this apply to Freicoin? Well, it's a Frei world out there waiting to be conquered. And that world needs ingenuity like demurrage and the idea of a coin without denominations finding value in the cost of making it-- it's a good one. When will we see the first such nations? Give it 20 years, and I guess people are probably talking about it. At least Richard Branson of Virgin and Dietrich Mateschitz of Red Bull.

The first thing such a nation will need is *drumroll* -- currency. Well, it could issue it's own fiat or choose dollars, but cash and banks cost more than it tastes. Such a nation will needs a currency like Bitcoin and Freicoin, and their coins themselves will be their stocks, tax and payment combined.

I believe internet and crypto currency are the first major steps towards the development of landless nations. In the future, our nation will be in the cloud. Below is a sketch for the flag of my Global Kingdom of Mitoria:
