My students will be ready to help out with the Universal Credit idea now but with Freicoin we have to get the coin circulating and cut the throats of whomever is trying to ride the coin down both with the massive pulse of mining and leaving it dead as well as cutting the throats of those trying to ride the price down. Also we really need Jorge and Mark to make that roadmap for updating the coin known.

Them bastards!
I think this is going to be the pattern for all exchanges that FRC is on now. It will be delisted. -

Suggest we do something like this as a meeting for Freicoin people. Not news but discussions so we can get our projects moving more. -

Hi Fab,

FRC address right?

Might be something we should all discuss and learn about moving forward Ethereum could be the default methodology for coin use.
Still nothing from Mark and Jorge on FRC which is somewhat disappointing. Especially when we do need an update to keep pace with Bitcoin. -
I have noted that the Ethereum also allows for Freicoin or coins to be used on that network.
I was wondering has anyone looked into porting FRC to Ethereum? -
It is not fun getting your Bitcoins back out of a Freicoin wallet or as I did put my Freicoins into a Bitcoin Wallet. Nightmare.
Something that would prevent that would be nice. -
Testing it.
Works well. You need an FRC donation address on it. We should, in the FA, donate some FRC and get matching funds from the FRC Foundation for your work Rik and for Fedde's work and hosting the servers.
I wish we could track the coins and addresses of the party or parties slamming the network. -
I will leave this here.
Personally I have no stake in this nor will I comment on the claims made above. I copied and pasted it here so we can address it here and not on that dead forum.
I believe anyone who has the facts can comment below and hopefully debunk some of what is said above as much of what is present is not the understanding I have of the situation. It would be good if Jorge or Mark comment on the substance of the claims being made with regards to network and others can comment on the original coding which the FA paid for in good faith. Others that lost money and did not get a response for over 2 years should also comment on this post should they feel they need to clarify inconsistency in the statements made above.
I am sure like everyone else we are glad the Joe is alive and well and well enough to restart his pool but If you were 10k in debt because of the last time you ran the pool and you have 250K in medical bills why would anyone take any risk in working with you in the future given that you can't repay anyone for their losses with regards to your mismanagement of a number of projects that have failed?

I did NOT make a run for it - I was FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE!

I noted now they required pictures and ID for using the exchange that is relatively new is it?
-
Ya it is up and down. Been unstable like that for more than a year or so.
-
Don't know Rik.
I think the idea of exchanges carrying a nearly dead coin with no volume or keeping an exchange open that has low volume is just not feasible.Hence an OTC for FRC seems the best option to me moving forward.

DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAINThe server at askcoin.net can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network.

Oh this is good. I hope we can help you with this. It was one of the things Fedde had discussed about doing in the past.
-
Moving this thread to Ongoing Projects since Fedde has started work.
I will put some Freicoin in for payment to cover claims of work on this project. -
Super I will delete the other thread.
Can keep everything thing here.I will put some Freicoin in for payment to cover claims of work on this project.

Given Mark and Jorge have hinted at the idea of merge mining before I can't see why it couldn't be implemented in the next version of the client.
Changing the filter really is not a viable option I think given that the only reason to change it would be to address the current scenario of wildly fluctuating hash rates. From 200 Th/s to below 1 Th/s and now we have regular adjusted Hashrate inflows on the coin to purposefully increase the difficulty. What we have now have is a Denial of Service attack where instead of forking or 51% attack on the coin these miners are denying transactions by pumping the difficulty up and not allowing for the filter to react and bring it down to a "normal" level where miners can keep the transactions moving when blocks are supposed to be 10 minutes.
At this point there is no need to really look at the strengths and weaknesses for merged mining because it really is the only option to keep the coin alive and move it forward.

I agree. I don't trust any exchanges. MtGox, Bter, Cryptsy etc.
OTC has some good advantages. I would like see that some how integrated into the FRC client. Would be ideal. -
If anyone else is interested in helping me fund a functional FRC OTC post below. I will ask Arcurus to help us set up Freihours for this.

OTC Exchange
OTC Exchange offers convenient low-fee escrow service and a marketplace to perform currency exchange operations between PayPal funds and Bitcoin. The escrow service is using automated verification procedures thus providing payment/funds delivery guarantee for both trading parties.
OTC Exchange marketplace does not require its members to maintain any kind of internal balance and employ deposit/withdrawal procedures. Funds are only kept by the marketplace till order fulfilment. Should order originator wish to close non-fulfilled or partially fulfilled order, correspondent Bitcoin amount is sent back to its respective owner. PayPal funds are not kept by the marketplace at all, they go directly member to member.

[hide]How It Works
General Information
OTC Exchange escrow service employs delivery confirmations and timeouts in its work process, which means that both seller and buyer parties are guaranteed to either have their funds delivered promptly or the deal being reversed literally making no one loose a penny. Please note that in case of order fulfilment the marketplace could only guarantee funds delivery. Still it cannot guarantee (nor anybody else could) the persistence of received PayPal funds on your account. See the important chargeback notice.
Bid Limit Orders
With current marketplace work process there is a single trading scenario where member A initiates an offer by transferring correspondent BTC amount to our system account. Once payment is confirmed and verified by Bitcoin network, offer becomes available for fulfilment by other members.
- Buyer registers a Bid Limit order, specifying the PayPal amount wanted for purchase and the desired price. Marketplace provides buyer with a WalletID and an exact BTC amount to be sent.
- Buyer sends the requested BTC amount to the marketplace.
- Once transaction is confirmed by Bitcoin network, the order becomes publicly visible.
- Other marketplace members are now able to post Sell Market orders as a fulfilment of the given Bid Limit order.
Sell Market Orders
Continuing the scenario started above, member B willing to fulfil the offer fully or partially is requested to place correspondent reserve and perform PayPal funds transfer following marketplace instructions. Once the PayPal transfer is performed and cleared, marketplace gets automatically notified by PayPal integration services. Our escrow engine then starts a safety delay countdown and sends Bitcoin payment to member B once the countdown hits zero. Should member A feel suspicious on PayPal transaction received, he/she notifies the maketplace of the potential problem before the safety delay expires.
- Seller registers a Sell Market order based on one of Bid Limit orders available on the marketplace.
- Marketplace puts a reserve on the selected Bid Limit and provides Seller with a link to follow in order to perform PayPal transfer. The engine expects the transfer to be completed in 10 minutes, failure to act in a timely manner results to the reserve removal and the Sell Market order cancellation.
- Seller uses the link provided to perform PayPal funds transfer directly to the correspondent Buyer. Seller is provided with a pregenerated and tamper protected transaction template link and only able to confirm the ongoing payment. Resulting Paypal transaction does not disclose deal details nor it reveals a Bitcoin exchange deal. It only says Order#XXXXX.
- Paypal engine automatically notifies the marketplace on the transaction occurred. Should all sensitive transaction info match expected, marketplace considers funds transfer as successfully completed and starts a countdown (currently 24 hours) to send out deal BTC amount to Seller
- Should there be no Complaint requests on Paypal transaction from Buyer during the countdown, marketplace finally releases the Bitcoin amount to Seller.
Important Notices
- When sending PayPal funds, one should use the same account they have on file under member settings. Performing a transfer using a different PayPal account will result the transaction considered invalid by our marketplace. Invalid transactions are not honored by marketplace work process so there'll be no Bitcoin payment follow. To request a refund on such transfers please contact recipient directly.
- One is required to send PayPal funds using instant payment methods. Things such as E-Check will take 3-5 days to clear thus having the marketplace releasing Bitcoin offer reserve because of timeout.
- Attempt to manually tamper with PayPal transaction currency, amount, payment recipient address or other sensitive information will result the marketplace flag the transaction as invalid and suspicious. Since such behavior violates the marketplace's Terms of Service, tampering member may be restricted or completely banned at the support team discretion.
Chargeback Notice
Credit card transactions are vulnerable for chargebacks. PayPal transfer operation funded by CC transaction is automatically being reversed once chargeback notification comes from the cardholder issuing bank.
Bitcoins as a Currency, PayPal as a Commodity
Note that OTC Exchange treats Bitcoins as a currency and PayPal as a commodity, not vice versa. It means that in the terms of the marketplace you actually sell or buy PayPal for Bitcoins. So the desired price you see at bitcoincharts should be inverted. Example: MtGox price 5.00 means 1 BTC is worth $5.00. To place an order with this rate on OTC Exchange, you should calculate the price of $1 and enter this as a deal price. For the case shown, the deal price would be 0.2 BTC (per $1).
Fees and Safety Delays
OTC Exchange charges 1% fee for a Buy Limit order and 0% for correspondent Sell Market orders. In case of a Buy Limit cancellation a is refund issued right away and 0.01 BTC processing fee is collected.
The marketplace puts extra delays on all ongoing BTC payments. Current processing delay is 24 hours. Depending on member reputation and trading volume it can be decreased or fully eliminated.
Trust Levels
Marketplace trust levels are assigned during registration procedure based on whom the invitation came from. Those are explained right below:
- Trusted - Member's trustworthiness and identity documents were physically verified and confirmed by marketplace administration team. Trusted members are allowed to invite unlimited number of users.
- Reliable - Member was invited to join the marketplace by one of Trusted members. Reliable members are allowed to invite three users.
- Invited - Member was invited to join the marketplace by one of Reliable members. Invited members are not allowed to invite others.
The trust level could be increased after 180 days for a member showing regular trading activity and high reliability. The decrease of member's trust level can only happen in case of a fraud attempt originated by one of their invitees.
Membership
The service is now working in invite-only mode which means one can only become a member using an invitation sent by one of the existing trusted users. As a guest one is only allowed to overview marketplace resources, activities and trading events.
If you reasonable believe you could prove your trustworthiness as a currency trader in order to become a marketplace member, you should contact the OTC Exchange support team directly to consider inviting you.

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/charlie-lee-proposes-merged-mining-ltcdoge/
I think most of the arguments for Merge mining can be found in the link.
Although FRC is different in the Demurrage the fact that it is a BTC derived coin I think most of the arguments are valid.
Also given the latest Denial of Service by some group that is hell bent on burying the difficulty so high that it may never be recovered unless it is merged mined with BTC seems to be the plan. I can't see any other way around this. This mine has obviously set their target on FRC and are at regular intervals bumping up the difficulty.

BTER still up selling FRC.
Bluetrade took FRC down no volume
AskCoin still up selling FRC.
C-cex.xom? Never heard that one.
Crypsty dead.
Vircurex I believe still trades FRC.I have tried also to get the Indonesian exchange to add FRC. No luck.

My thoughts are these:
1. The very nature of all these hackable exchanges are built on unnecessary trust in a 3rd party. Keeping coins in 3rd party hands at this point in time at any exchange is foolish. Given the advance in the internet and encryption there are better ways to trade coins.
2. We need an exchange platform that allows for direct trade / exchange without a 3rd party having control over the coins.
3. We should fork the Bitcoin OTC and improve on it for FRC. http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-brokers-trade-millions-without-exchange/

We should do Blab.im if possible.
It is simple enough. Too bad we don't have more people on the FRC boat.
