  1. My students will be ready to help out with the Universal Credit idea now but with Freicoin we have to get the coin circulating and cut the throats of whomever is trying to ride the coin down both with the massive pulse of mining and leaving it dead as well as cutting the throats of those trying to ride the price down. Also we really need Jorge and Mark to make that roadmap for updating the coin known.

    G'day strangers!

Hows everyone doing? still ticking along i see. Ive been pretty busy with work so i gave up the crypto mining. Miss the random chats tho.

Anyways, thought id say hey. Cant see a chat box anywhere so i guess you guys don't use one like in the old days on Joes pool.

    Hope all is well!

    Kieran

    Welcome back.

  3. I will leave this here.

Personally I have no stake in this nor will I comment on the claims made above. I copied and pasted it here so we can address it here and not on that dead forum.

I believe anyone who has the facts can comment below and hopefully debunk some of what is said above as much of what is present is not the understanding I have of the situation. It would be good if Jorge or Mark comment on the substance of the claims being made with regards to network and others can comment on the original coding which the FA paid for in good faith. Others that lost money and did not get a response for over 2 years should also comment on this post should they feel they need to clarify inconsistency in the statements made above.

I am sure like everyone else we are glad the Joe is alive and well and well enough to restart his pool but If you were 10k in debt because of the last time you ran the pool and you have 250K in medical bills why would anyone take any risk in working with you in the future given that you can't repay anyone for their losses with regards to your mismanagement of a number of projects that have failed?

  4. I did NOT make a run for it - I was FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE!

    Postby Joe » Sun Mar 06, 2016 5:20 am

I have spent the last few years battling sicknesses. In 2015 I was life flighted (helicopter ambulance) due to totaling my car while having a full on grand-mal (tonic-clonic) seizure (I sheered off a 30 foot pine tree, kept going through another 150 yards of cor and another 100 yards through the woods before my car came to a stop) which landed me in the icu intubated and sedated (out cold) for a few days, multiple renal failures and potential kidney transplant has been a problem. In all I have been hospitalized at least three times due to major physical health issues starting at the beginning of the year of 2015 (time of closure of the pool).

There are no miners left, they all died off when the pool died off which was one reason for shutting the pool down. I had a net loss of 10k USD in the year of 2014 (yes, i have almost 10k in loans just from running the pool) and I was unable to afford it as I have almost a quarter of a million dollars in medical bills left that won't be forgiven so I'm now working the rest of my life so I can pay the NON-PROFIT hospital the money they are harassing me about.

There is no money that was not sent out. While the pool was down, the miners were mining on p2pool and your funds were paid out at that time.

By now everyone knows that I did NOT, and I repeat DID NOT have anything to do with the blackarrow issue. The only miners that are around at all failed right around closure.

Yes, there was bad blood between the pools. Don't even consider that there wasn't. There was, and you know what, it needed to stop. It did and we are now ready to move forward as professionals and let go of some stupid thing.

I created electrum for freicoin and you guys gave someone else the bounty for my code that said developer stole (the indents and everythinh are exactly the same as the code i shared with a certain individual). The droid application also was working fine until the difficulty became an issue which caused change addresses to require the 6 confirms for demurrage to take place. I even had demurrage all laid out, but i said screw it because my code was stolen. I will never again be doing any open source code like that.

I even have my own block explorer I was going to release for opensource use literally two weeks after I closed down. I had openbazzar working on freicoin, and my own version of side chains done. I even fixed the damned 144 tap filter down to a modified 36 tap filter based on historical hash-n-dash issues which allowed faster increase and decrease in difficulty. Through simulations of said difficulty filter i was able to simulate a 1 petahash hash-n-dash which resulted in return to normal function 36 hours later at 10 th/s. I did a lot you guys never saw.

I spent almost 2 years of my life working for you guys trying to make ends meet (all the while losing money), and you know where it takes me? It gets me harassed, people are calling my parents calling in death threats (you know who you are). Some of said people are now in jail, and one particular person i won't mention is currently on the run and as soon as they are caught, I'm requesting jail without parole.

I'm not dealing with this absolute bullshit that has gone on. I did the best i could while having unreasonable demands made of me. Not only was I coding my pool, I ran over 200 freicoin nodes. You wonder why its so hard to access the freicoin network right now? Its because all nodes but maybe 50 were MY NODES! I also had 15 p2pool nodes running to try and support maaku's pool and keep it running within specs. I paid maaku out of my own pocket to get stratum mining server working for freicoin so we could get more pools.

I will not apologize for having been sick and almost dying, i will not apologize for NEVER having the black arrows and I will not apologize for antminers failing due to the BAD CONSTRUCTION of the antminers.

I will not apologize for fighting for my life. If anyone wants proof, I've got photos of the totaled car, multiple media outlet postings and otherwise.

In fact, here you go, here's the articles from my accident in august.
    http://line88design.com/wkoktest/index. ... linsgrove/
    http://selinsgrove62.rssing.com/chan-25 ... ml#item139
I have more if you want it, and I have medical reports from earlier but I *WONT* release those.

Now, we have two ways to go here. You guys can all keep harassing me and my aging parents (of which my dad is battling prostate cancer), or we can all stop and maybe i'll open my pool back up. I don't have any of the code guys, so I'm doing this from scratch again and I NEED time to do it. If you can accept the following rules, I will open back up on a trial basis with instant payouts

    Preamble:
Please understand that portions of these rules and statements within are due to my health conditions which can lapse without notice.

    Rules:
1.)It is my pool and no one is allowed to make demands. Polite requests are generously greeted and welcomed however, any demands of me equate to instant account deletion and forfeiture of any remaining funds in your account. Abuse of this will cause immediate termination of request acceptance.
    2.)NO VOTING
    3.)What I say goes
4.)There are times I will be unavailable to do support. Critical systems issues are most likely under maintenance, and any issues will be resolved when I am available
5.)The Block explorer is for your convenience and the code is private.
6.)You may reference web code only as education material
7.)You agree to hold me, my pool, my business, anyone on the pool and any employees or contractors of my pool harmless and it is your own responsibility to stay within the confines of your law
8.)Any issue will be determined by binding arbitration which is paid for by the client and not me. The awarded amount will be $1 or the value of the arbitrator's decision. Which ever is less will be awarded. In doing so you are releasing your right to trial and agree to a non-disclosure, binding agreement related to arbitration as well as agreeing that there was no fault in arbitration.
    9.)ABSOLUTELY NO ILLICIT TALK ALLOWED!
10.)I am not open to coding open source projects at this time. My health is a limiting factor and as such my dedication must be to one project.
11.)I am extremely ill and have had a year of multiple hospital stays in intensive care units, there may be times when the pool is turned off for security.
12.)There is ZERO GUARANTEE that this project will remain online or stable.
I AM *NOT* A FREICOIN FOUNDATION MEMBER!

    DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

The server at askcoin.net can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network.

  6. Given Mark and Jorge have hinted at the idea of merge mining before I can't see why it couldn't be implemented in the next version of the client.

Changing the filter really is not a viable option I think given that the only reason to change it would be to address the current scenario of wildly fluctuating hash rates. From 200 Th/s to below 1 Th/s and now we have regular adjusted Hashrate inflows on the coin to purposefully increase the difficulty. What we have now have is a Denial of Service attack where instead of forking or 51% attack on the coin these miners are denying transactions by pumping the difficulty up and not allowing for the filter to react and bring it down to a "normal" level where miners can keep the transactions moving when blocks are supposed to be 10 minutes.

At this point there is no need to really look at the strengths and weaknesses for merged mining because it really is the only option to keep the coin alive and move it forward.

  7. If anyone else is interested in helping me fund a functional FRC OTC post below. I will ask Arcurus to help us set up Freihours for this.

    https://github.com/nanotube/supybot-bitcoin-marketmonitor

    https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/OTC_Exchange

    OTC Exchange

OTC Exchange offers convenient low-fee escrow service and a marketplace to perform currency exchange operations between PayPal funds and Bitcoin. The escrow service is using automated verification procedures thus providing payment/funds delivery guarantee for both trading parties.

OTC Exchange marketplace does not require its members to maintain any kind of internal balance and employ deposit/withdrawal procedures. Funds are only kept by the marketplace till order fulfilment. Should order originator wish to close non-fulfilled or partially fulfilled order, correspondent Bitcoin amount is sent back to its respective owner. PayPal funds are not kept by the marketplace at all, they go directly member to member.

    How It Works

    General Information

OTC Exchange escrow service employs delivery confirmations and timeouts in its work process, which means that both seller and buyer parties are guaranteed to either have their funds delivered promptly or the deal being reversed literally making no one loose a penny. Please note that in case of order fulfilment the marketplace could only guarantee funds delivery. Still it cannot guarantee (nor anybody else could) the persistence of received PayPal funds on your account. See the important chargeback notice.

    Bid Limit Orders

With current marketplace work process there is a single trading scenario where member A initiates an offer by transferring correspondent BTC amount to our system account. Once payment is confirmed and verified by Bitcoin network, offer becomes available for fulfilment by other members.

    1. Buyer registers a Bid Limit order, specifying the PayPal amount wanted for purchase and the desired price. Marketplace provides buyer with a WalletID and an exact BTC amount to be sent.
    2. Buyer sends the requested BTC amount to the marketplace.
    3. Once transaction is confirmed by Bitcoin network, the order becomes publicly visible.
    4. Other marketplace members are now able to post Sell Market orders as a fulfilment of the given Bid Limit order.

    Sell Market Orders

Continuing the scenario started above, member B willing to fulfil the offer fully or partially is requested to place correspondent reserve and perform PayPal funds transfer following marketplace instructions. Once the PayPal transfer is performed and cleared, marketplace gets automatically notified by PayPal integration services. Our escrow engine then starts a safety delay countdown and sends Bitcoin payment to member B once the countdown hits zero. Should member A feel suspicious on PayPal transaction received, he/she notifies the maketplace of the potential problem before the safety delay expires.

    1. Seller registers a Sell Market order based on one of Bid Limit orders available on the marketplace.
    2. Marketplace puts a reserve on the selected Bid Limit and provides Seller with a link to follow in order to perform PayPal transfer. The engine expects the transfer to be completed in 10 minutes, failure to act in a timely manner results to the reserve removal and the Sell Market order cancellation.
    3. Seller uses the link provided to perform PayPal funds transfer directly to the correspondent Buyer. Seller is provided with a pregenerated and tamper protected transaction template link and only able to confirm the ongoing payment. Resulting Paypal transaction does not disclose deal details nor it reveals a Bitcoin exchange deal. It only says Order#XXXXX.
    4. Paypal engine automatically notifies the marketplace on the transaction occurred. Should all sensitive transaction info match expected, marketplace considers funds transfer as successfully completed and starts a countdown (currently 24 hours) to send out deal BTC amount to Seller
    5. Should there be no Complaint requests on Paypal transaction from Buyer during the countdown, marketplace finally releases the Bitcoin amount to Seller.

    Important Notices

    • When sending PayPal funds, one should use the same account they have on file under member settings. Performing a transfer using a different PayPal account will result the transaction considered invalid by our marketplace. Invalid transactions are not honored by marketplace work process so there'll be no Bitcoin payment follow. To request a refund on such transfers please contact recipient directly.
    • One is required to send PayPal funds using instant payment methods. Things such as E-Check will take 3-5 days to clear thus having the marketplace releasing Bitcoin offer reserve because of timeout.
    • Attempt to manually tamper with PayPal transaction currency, amount, payment recipient address or other sensitive information will result the marketplace flag the transaction as invalid and suspicious. Since such behavior violates the marketplace's Terms of Service, tampering member may be restricted or completely banned at the support team discretion.

    Chargeback Notice

Credit card transactions are vulnerable for chargebacks. PayPal transfer operation funded by CC transaction is automatically being reversed once chargeback notification comes from the cardholder issuing bank.

Bitcoins as a Currency, PayPal as a Commodity

Note that OTC Exchange treats Bitcoins as a currency and PayPal as a commodity, not vice versa. It means that in the terms of the marketplace you actually sell or buy PayPal for Bitcoins. So the desired price you see at bitcoincharts should be inverted. Example: MtGox price 5.00 means 1 BTC is worth $5.00. To place an order with this rate on OTC Exchange, you should calculate the price of $1 and enter this as a deal price. For the case shown, the deal price would be 0.2 BTC (per $1).

    Fees and Safety Delays

OTC Exchange charges 1% fee for a Buy Limit order and 0% for correspondent Sell Market orders. In case of a Buy Limit cancellation a is refund issued right away and 0.01 BTC processing fee is collected.

The marketplace puts extra delays on all ongoing BTC payments. Current processing delay is 24 hours. Depending on member reputation and trading volume it can be decreased or fully eliminated.

    Trust Levels

Marketplace trust levels are assigned during registration procedure based on whom the invitation came from. Those are explained right below:

    • Trusted - Member's trustworthiness and identity documents were physically verified and confirmed by marketplace administration team. Trusted members are allowed to invite unlimited number of users.
    • Reliable - Member was invited to join the marketplace by one of Trusted members. Reliable members are allowed to invite three users.
    • Invited - Member was invited to join the marketplace by one of Reliable members. Invited members are not allowed to invite others.

The trust level could be increased after 180 days for a member showing regular trading activity and high reliability. The decrease of member's trust level can only happen in case of a fraud attempt originated by one of their invitees.

    Membership

The service is now working in invite-only mode which means one can only become a member using an invitation sent by one of the existing trusted users. As a guest one is only allowed to overview marketplace resources, activities and trading events.

If you reasonable believe you could prove your trustworthiness as a currency trader in order to become a marketplace member, you should contact the OTC Exchange support team directly to consider inviting you.

  8. https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/charlie-lee-proposes-merged-mining-ltcdoge/

I think most of the arguments for Merge mining can be found in the link.

Although FRC is different in the Demurrage the fact that it is a BTC derived coin I think most of the arguments are valid.

Also given the latest Denial of Service by some group that is hell bent on burying the difficulty so high that it may never be recovered unless it is merged mined with BTC seems to be the plan. I can't see any other way around this. This mine has obviously set their target on FRC and are at regular intervals bumping up the difficulty.

  9. BTER still up selling FRC.

Bluetrade took FRC down no volume

    AskCoin still up selling FRC.

    C-cex.xom? Never heard that one.

    Crypsty dead.

Vircurex I believe still trades FRC.

I have tried also to get the Indonesian exchange to add FRC. No luck.

    My thoughts are these:

    1. The very nature of all these hackable exchanges are built on unnecessary trust in a 3rd party. Keeping coins in 3rd party hands at this point in time at any exchange is foolish. Given the advance in the internet and encryption there are better ways to trade coins.

    2. We need an exchange platform that allows for direct trade / exchange without a 3rd party having control over the coins.

    3. We should fork the Bitcoin OTC and improve on it for FRC. http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-brokers-trade-millions-without-exchange/
