To begin changing the coin (after burning the foundation coins), we could implement a HF to decrease the mining reward all we need to do is change this code in main.cpp:

Yes, with foundation coins burned, both coins will have a complete different setup (demurrage is all thats connects them then), so i see no direct competition here. Investors speculators and in the end users will decide. As i see it both coins can profit from one another.

Hi again, since my commet is off topic for the other threads it fits most in here. Thanks to @fedde 's exchange, the fresh ideas from @Skaro , @Adilado and @jtimon i am now again looking at freicoin with confidence. I am really exited to see the "freiexchange 2.0" in action and think that we will find a way to adopt Freicoin to the new situation to make up a worldwide freiconomy without debt and dangerous bubbles, because that was what we are here for since 2013.

I am now fully in FRC again and given up the positions in all other coins feeling good with it. I hope our ( @Bicknellski  , @Arcurus ) call  for do or die was the wake up call we needed.

So its very good that the demurrage is largely paid by foundation. Now we timelock those funds forever and demurrage gets drawn from there and nowhere else.

That was my vote too.. We have to wait what @jtimon says about it.

As arc says, if you want to get that amount of coins, it's not unreal to gain that in a month or two, coins are circulating and the userbase is growing slowly.

That would be something for the @Mark Friedenbach and @jtimon as they handle the foundations funds. If they could use those coins on @fedde 's exchange with BTC and what other coins will come and every address has a time/FRC ratio (like POS) that will pay you those tokens that would be something very special and of course doable, if we find no other usage for the foundation coins!

Biggest problem here is that coins go to foundation, people dont accept that since developers that hold almost all coins is a risk of coin dumping.

This is the way it works in crypto, if 5% were permanently burned that would be OK (but not good), this way is not OK.

Please take no offense but the world is running directly into a third world war because people don't realize what is wrong with our money system. To redesign Freicoin in that way means robbing it from all what makes it special and successful in the first place. But i see your point. As nobody is interested in how to make money better but just how to make money, Freicoin is designed badly.

For me the idea behind it was that we could create a currency that attracts everyday people and not the big whales. Because if the everyday people profit the big whales follows, because in the end they have to use what people accept as money and not shells.

Now it gets clearer that cryptocurrencies are very forward and that they need to attract big investors to be "successful". Blockchain currencies are still too complicated for everyday people to understand or use. Additionally they seem to be afraid to use them. But for me there is no other way but to bring cryptocurrencies to the people (and so i did Solidar a Freicoin fork that uses the demurrage as basicincome).

Please feel free to bring more ideas to the table maybe we can find some compromise.

In the end what counts is the block where the transaction is included.

who pays the demurrage is the same question who pays the transaction fee. That should be like in Bitcoin totally up to the agreement between sender and receiver.

In Bitcoin either of them or none of them can pay the fee if they want, so why not in Freicoin? 

 

Its a necessity. Think of it this way: you can lock a transaction for a certain time lets say 50k blocks (a year). After that it is included into a block. Since there is no information in the transaction when it was send, no demurrwge can be calculated.. And the whole demurrage idea is useless

As i already said, it is needed to have that refheight, because the transaction could be included later on and your wallet need to be locked until the transaction is confirmed also it wont be possible to empty wallets in a exact way, because the amount available is lower than the original. Maybe you want to contact @jtimon he maybe can explain it better than me..

And no, sadly there is no guide to modify bitcoin in the way needed ;-) ..

Until these points are met i will keep working on my Solidar project, which has a sustainable easy to use redistribution mechanism.

BTW does anyone know someone that is good at SEO? Solidar definitively needs more visibility in Google search results! Like "blockchain basic income" is ruled by grantcoin.

If this could be done it only just shifts our problems into the future: Freicoin has no sustainable redistribution mechanism, concentrating power on the miners.

The other big problem is attention. Only projects that hare some fancy new tech are recognized and make new aths every few weeks. All is concentrated on them and people cant look through all those commercials (there are now facebook adds for Ethereum ICOs), to see that 90% of these are made of hot air.. But as many dont recognize those who see it have to follow the masses to make profits.

Im totally annoyed by this system but there is not much we can do about it atm. I think what Freicoin needs are two things: 1 a sustainable redistribution system QE for people not for miners 2. Another global depression.

In the end freicoin could only be prepared (what it is not).

I invested in Freicoin with the promise that i could use these to get donation matching to encourage to support further projects. 

i understand that you want to close down the foundation. but simply increasing the mining reward and therefore inflate the coins it not what was promised.

if you want to bring the coins into circulation do that now and not in a constant drain through mining.

i don't see how higher mining rewards will benefit the coin, more coins means simply less price per coin.

if Freicoin stays like it is now with just demurrage to miners i'm out.

 

At best i would see if the coins would be distributed as negative exchange fees. this will bring liquidity which is most important for a currency.

The purpose of freigeld is not to redistribute money to the poor, but rather remove the existence of poverty under the assumption that is caused by chronic interest and cyclic monetary velocity.

maybe its just me but i invested my time and money because i wanted to support demurrage used for common good. Usiing the funds to donate to social projects fulfilled that purpose. Supporting mining isnt what i had in mind, though it was in the code from the beginning.

Well if we want to compare it to Bitcoin - which does not make sense IMHO - i ask myself what the community would say if the core devs would decide to increase the coin supply by 5?

I can not imaginge atm that a social purpose can be decentralized. BItcoin f.e. is not decentralized either. 1m is owned by Satoshi and there are a handful pool and a few groups of devs ruling the bord.

Woergl f.e. was the most successful freigeld currency and they used it to pay for social infrastructure. And IMHO it is the only reasonable purpose to redistribute money to the poor.

I dont really see how it is fair to those that invest in FRC in the past dont follow the forum and one day wake up with an extreme amount of FRC pumped in mining - what in the end will lower the price and interest in the coin.

Additional info: the bot pays 10 SLR/month to every active user. To count as active a user must check ones balance once a month.

Because the Solidar bot is an important part of Solidar, for anybody wondering I wanna give a short outlook here what it is planned to be in the future.

1. The Solidar bot willbe a fully working web wallet sending, receiving and managing funds.

2. it is planned to integrate merchant functionallity -> add comments for transactions to verify payments.

3. integrate a interface for merchants to receive informations about incoming payments.

4. 10k messages are free after that facebook will contact with further instructions maybe then will be a good time to contact facebook about a basic income.

5. contact facebook to integrate solidar further- more public visibility and untegration with facebook related payments.

6. get mark zuckerberg to support solidar as he already advocated for a basic income.
